- Flatbed Benefits Flatbeds are open deck trailers that allow transporting large equipment, solar panels, steel, pipes, and building materials. Most loads require straps, chains, or tarps to ensure the product is safely secured to the trailer. When shipping through a flatbed trailer, it requires spot on freight dimensions to provide a safe transit for the product. Standard flatbeds are 48’ in length and 102” in width. Flatbeds can carry as much as 48,000 lbs per shipment.
- Stretch Flatbed Stretch flatbeds have more room for than regular flatbeds and can support longer loads. The length of a stretch trailer removes the possibility of overhanging freight. Stretch trailers can extend up to 80 feet, have a width of 8’6” and stand at 60” tall. Their weight capacity is 43000 lbs.
- Step Decks The step-deck has trailer two deck levels. Step-deck trailers can haul taller loads than standard flatbeds and typically have ramps to unload. Step decks can carry up to 48,000 and can be 48’ for legal loads and 53’ for over-dimensional loads. The width on the step deck is at 8’6”.
